5 Couch to 5K events in 2020!

Posted by Alison Sheehy on

Looking to dip your toe in the race circuit this year? Her’es a round-up of just a handful of the 5K runs happening across the country in 2020!

Rock ‘N’ Roll Dublin 5K

This particular running event series has been taking place in Dublin for eight years and includes a 5k run, a 10k, a family fun run and a half marathon. The 5k is held on Saturday, August 8-9 and starts at 10am. Register here and give yourself a leisurely 5-and-a-bit months to train up!

Dublin Night Run Park West 5 & 10K

This event’s sister run in Sandymount is sold out and it’s likely that this one will go that direction too. Get in quick and register for this event taking place on July 28th. The Night Run crew has also very conveniently provided you with some training plans to get your ready for your run by July!

Tough Mudder 5k, Meath

Hailing itself as ‘Probably the toughest event on the planet’, Tough Mudder has definitely gained a reputation as being not for the faint of heart and is definitely not your average 5K. That said, if you’re down for getting a bit dirty and are happy to put in the training yards, this is one hell of a fun mud run. Register here for the 5K obstacle course taking place in Co. Meath on July 25th & 26th.

Never Give Up, Wexford

This charity fun run in aid of the Irish Cancer Society takes place in Co. Wexford on Sunday the 26th of July this year and you can register here for either the 5K or 10K runs. The Never Give Up course is a road race which loops you through some gorgeous countryside and there’s a medal in it for everyone who completes the course. Woohoo!

Thoroughbred Run, Kildare

Also a multi-run event, the Thoroughbred Run takes you through Stud Farms in the Kildare Town area and the best part??? There’s a hot meal served post-race in Market Square that’s included in your registration. The event takes place on Sunday June 21st (Father’s Day), so maybe register you and your oul’ lad and make a day of it!
